Vigilant In All Things

November 15

2 Kings 20:1-21

14-17“Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked, “What did those men say, and where did they come from?” “From a distant land,” Hezekiah replied. “They came from Babylon.” The prophet asked, “What did they see in your palace?” “They saw everything in my palace,” Hezekiah said. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.” Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the Lord: The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your predecessors have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the Lord.”………

Be vigilant because the ugly truth is not everyone that smiles at you and appears to be trustworthy has your best interest at heart. We have to be very careful when we are faced with the decision of choosing friends and just people that will be in our lives altogether. There are people that come into our lives only for the gain that they will achieve from the things we may do for them. Some come in to use us for whatever they may have a preconceived ideology they may have. Yet still, some come to bring about growth and the goodness of God. For this reason, we have to use be slow in our decision. We have to take our time and make sure every box is checked before we make a decision.

Secondly, we have to be careful who we open ourselves up to. We have to be cautious with the eyes we allow to look into our lives. Some individuals come to scope out our lives so they can come back and rob us of what we have, whether physical or spiritual. Do not put yourself in a place where you become vulnerable to the bad ones around you. The harsh truth still remains, not everyone cares about you and love you the way you do. Not everyone comes into your life with good intentions. Not all people need to know the depths of you. Be wise. Keep yourself under the protective hands of God.
