1 Thessalonians 5:16
“Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.”
In the world we live in it is very easy for others to encourage you to pay back evil with evil. The world will tell you that if you do not retaliate then it means you are weak. For this reason if you’re not careful it is very easy to be misguided and misdirected.
As a believer you do not live by the standards of the world. You’re not living to fulfill the expectations of the world. The world’s ideology is to do good to those who do good to you and evil to those who do evil against you. However as a believer your principles are different. You are not only do good to those who do good to you but also to those who do evil against you. That’s what it means to be like Christ. Being like Christ is being different and not trying to fit the status quo of this world. As a believer let there be a distinguishing difference between you and the world around you. Even in this moment ask yourself, how can I be a blessing to someone today and, how can I show the light and love of Christ to the one in need of it. Do not live life anyhow rather live it in accordance to the Lord.
