Matthew 5:43

“You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!”

To pay back evil with evil is so easy. To hate your enemies and love those who love you seem sensible and we do so because that comes easy. More often than not it seems so right and easy to treat others exactly how they treat us. Being good to those who are good and evil to those who are evil doesn’t distinguish us from the world. In fact that behavior makes us one with it. God has called us to something greater, which is to be like Christ. To not only love our neighbors but also those who are our enemies, those who caused us much grief. We must be just like Christ.

We must love and show mercy to those we don’t think deserve it because God always shows us mercy and always loves us even at our worst. So as God loves us without condition let us also strive to love others with the love we have received. Practice showing the love of God to those who show you hatred. Practice loving your enemy irrespective of everything and allow them to be won by the Love of God exuding through you.
