He Did Not Have To

Titus 2:14

“who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”

Christ had every right to make whatever decision He desired. He had every right to say no to the cross. He also had the right to put Himself before any of us, yet He house to give Himself up. He chooses to die that you and I may have life. He chose to suffer that we may have peace. He chose all things uncomfortable and painful that we may have comfort. He gave Himself up to redeem us from all wickedness.

Why then do we entangle ourselves with the wickedness of this world and with the vileness of the generations? He shed His blood for redemption and salvation. The blood was and is still is worth everything, so we ought to live a life that is worthy of the blood. Our ways, our actions, and our paths must be worthy of the blood because He had the power to reject the cross but for our sake, He endured it gracefully.

Be eager to live a life pleasing to the Lord. Be eager to do all that which is good. Be eager to become like Christ in all your ways. He gave Himself freely for our sake, therefore we also ought to live unapologetically for Him.
