Galatians 4:6-9
“Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “ Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir. Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?”
As you enter this New Year, you are entering as Sons. You are not entering as a people who are lost or a people who are confused with their identity, because you are a Son. You are no longer a slave, which means you have no reason to give in to the bondage of slavery that your old life, gave to you. We as sons are no longer slaves and as such we must do away with all thoughts and ideologies of slavehood that keeps us bound to our old self which once was our slave self. Since we have been introduced into the sonship and as such are co-heirs with Christ we have been introduced to life and liberty.
Now that you have been given a new name and have been drawn into the Kingdom of God you have no reason to turn back to those things that once plagued you and held you bound. You do not have to turn back to sin or the weaknesses that once cut your life short. In this New Year, you have the right and the power to walk into your Sonship. Today, say no to everything and everyone that will attempt to draw you away from your inheritance. Do not go through this year with a slave mentality. Do not be so brainwashed that even when freedom is presented to you, you decide to choose slavery instead. Be vigilant and walk in the privilege and honor that sonship has given to you. Do not give in and do not throw away the life you have been given. This is a year whereby growth must be inevitable in your life, so choose to walk as a son.
