There is no such thing as “I don’t have a spiritual gift, neither is there any as I don’t have a talent. This is made very clear in 1 Corinthians 12:7 “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” I am sure we know by now God’s word is Ye and Amen. It is true inside and out, which then means we each have a gift that has been given unto us. Each person has a gift no matter how small or big they may think it is. What we have to do is to identify that particular spiritual gift and run with it.
To identify our gift we must seek the face of the one who gave it to us in the first place because it is He who can aid us in identifying what we have as well as help us in building it! A spiritual gift could range from many different things. It can be healing, knowledge, prophecy, wisdom, discernment, or interpretation of tongues. It’s important to identify our gift so we can use it to benefit others. My gift should benefit those around me just as much as their gift should benefit me.
There are other gifts such as encouragement, leadership, service, giving, etc. (Roman 12) that the Lord gives unto us. My gift might be in the area of serving whereas yours might be in the area of leadership. Take pride in what you have and build on that. Focus on becoming a better you rather than someone else. We cannot all lead, neither can we all encourage, or teach, but if I focus on establishing myself in encouraging, while you focus on leading and the next person in line focus on their teaching we will be able to better our community and ourselves. Let us take some time to seek God for what our gifts are and how you can leverage it to help others. Everyone has something different, we cannot and will not all be the same so let us identify it and use it in the very best way we can!
1 Corinthians 12:7
7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.
