We have become so accustomed to conversing with God through other people so much that some of us have forgotten how to talk to Him. We want every prophet to give us a word from God and every pastor to direct us. We have hindered our relationship with God because it is God plus us plus everyone else in our circle. Some of us cannot pray unless we are in a group setting. Others cannot worship unless they do so with other people.
We each have been given the privilege to reach God on our own. We have each been given access to Him, therefore we do not need anyone before we go to God. God wants to hear from you just as He hears from your pastor. He wants a relationship with you, outside of everything and everyone else! Stop trying to reach God through every person but Christ. He has given us unlimited access to Himself, so speak to Him and allow Him to speak back to you. Quit trying to build a relationship with God in the shadow of every individual you are surrounded with. You have the freedom to access Him, so utilize that freedom.
Ephesians 2:18
“For through Him, we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”
