Exodus 23:29-30

“I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land.”

There are times on this journey where we will have different thorns in our flesh. There are seasons in which we will face certain giants and hurdles in life. In some of these seasons, we will begin to wonder why God doesn’t just remove these things and or put a stop to them. However, we must look a little deeper than what we see on the surface. Just as God could have very well driven out the Canaanites etc. so can He drive out the things in your life but He will not do that just yet.

Just like the Israelites if God gets rid of those things in your life at this very moment you will have no root. You will not have root deep enough and strong enough to withstand the next phase of life. If He takes you out of that job environment before you learn what true humility is, you will fall to pride in your next phase. If He removes that annoying family member right now you will fall prey and be devoured by that annoying CEO of your company, who will easily take you out.

You see God knows everything and He sees every bit of the future before we get a chance to walk into it. Therefore He will sometimes allow certain thorns and certain people in our life’s who will actually be present to weed out everything that needs to be taken out. Though in their mind they will think that they have now pushed you into their corner God will rather be using them as laborers on your behalf.  Do not be in a hurry to run out of your season or to discredit what you see. God is working everything out for your good. Just as the Canaanites etc. were not driven out at once but rather became a subject used to protect the Israelites so shall your enemies be. Allow God to grow your roots before moving you from one phase to the next.
