1 John 24

If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.

If you truly know God there is a different manner in which you act from the rest of the world. Additionally it is only through relationship that we are able to create a bond with the Lord. Knowing about God and hearing about Him from others does not equate knowing Him. That is just simply having knowledge of Him and that’s not enough. We must know Him through our relationship with Him or we have nothing. Not only does knowing Him mean to have a relationship with Him it also means obeying His commands. This is because when we know Him we have a desire to do His will.

Having a relationship with Christ gives you ground and keep you grounded. If you say you know Him yet you do not do what He requires, them check your heart. Ask yourself if you truly know Him because you might be deceiving yourself. If you truly know the Lord as you claim you do, prove it by obeying His command. Prove it by showing that you have a true relationship with Him.
