2 Corinthians 8:3-4

“For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people.”

How often do you have the eagerness to be on the side of giving. To give without question and without complaint, or to ask for the privilege that allows you to give. What happens most of the time is that we find ourselves in situations where we are being asked to give and we do not do so. We don’t do so because we are so worried about where our giving is going as well as who will be accessing it. Other times we don’t give simply because we feel that it will be used for what we deem unnecessary. Secondly most of us have such a hard time giving because we are so calculated.

Although it is good to be calculated and to be on top of things it sometimes doesn’t help because it takes away our ability to give whole heartedly and freely. Rather it cripples us because making us think of all the reasons why we cannot give one dollar to the person sleeping on the streets when we have a roof over our head and food to eat. Sometimes that very thing we have can benefit someone far more than it’ll ever benefit us however we choose to hold tight unto it. It is a privilege and an honor to give. So whenever you are presented with such a privilege give what you can and give it wholeheartedly without any ulterior motive’s. Giving is a blessing so as long as it is within your power, give.

Lastly it takes great grace to give. Therefore ask the Lord for the grace that allows you to give selflessly and wholeheartedly to the glory of his name.
