Romans 8:12-13
“Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.”
What we often forget or for some of us we do not realize is that Jesus gave us the power to say no to sin when He gave His life on the cross. The death and resurrection of Christ Jesus have given us eternal freedom.
We have absolutely NO OBLIGATION to do what our sinful nature requires of us. You and I have absolutely NO OBLIGATION to give into our flesh. We have been given the grace to put to death our sinful nature through the Spirit! Jesus has literally given us power. Literally, power. If we live in and walk by the Spirit we will be able to overcome our flesh.
The flesh only has the power we give over to it. We are its master not the other way around. We do not have be chained to our sinful nature. We have to choice to live in the way of God which is through the Spirit or the way of the world which is through our flesh. The choice is yours to make. But I do pray that you will choose to LIVE by the SPIRIT of God and put to DEATH your FLESH everyday of your life. Living by the Spirit lead to eternal peace and life, but the flesh leads to eternal damnation. Do not cause your own death by giving power to the flesh. Rule over it, because that’s the power you’ve been given!
