Lack Of Knowledge

January 29

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…..” – Hosea 4:6
‭‭Have you ever been in a situation where you simply sat and analyzed the implication of your ignorance? Or a situation you knew very well could have been avoided had you known about it? This scripture is one we often quote mainly in passing but it is one that we ought to pay attention to. Because of our lack of knowledge of God and who He is most of us are suffocating daily. Because of our ignorance and lack of desire to know and do better most of us have been in the same place we were five years ago. We often hear people say knowledge is power and though some may say that that’s too big of a statement to claim, there is truth in it.

The man who knows he is being enslaved will do everything in his power to become free, but the one who does not know he is being enslaved will reject freedom even if it was presented to him on a silver platter and help his master enslave him the more. To lack knowledge is quite painful and saddening and to embrace ignorance adds insult to injury. In all of our getting we must get knowledge. We must first acquire our knowledge from the One who has created us before we branch out. The attainment of knowledge is important, but all the knowledge we have is useless if we do not know God especially on more than just a surface level.

Hosea 4:6

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also will reject you from being priest for Me;
Because you have forgotten the law of your God,
I also will forget your children.
