God Knows Best

Exodus 13:17

“When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, ‘If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.’”

What a joy it is to know that God is Lord and we’re are not. Compared to God who makes His decisions based on Wisdom, foresight, insight, knowledge, and understanding, we are constrained to the things that we see and thus make decisions based on our little experience. The fact that God knows us more than we will ever know ourselves He considers everything when deciding for our lives. Let’s take this passage; for example, if God had allowed The Israelites to decide for themselves they would have chosen the easy way out and that would have led them to their very graves.

Like the Israelites, there are times that God will take us on a rough road not because He does not love us either is it He wants us to suffer, but because He knows us and knows some decisions we make will lead us to trouble.  Look back at your life; there have been instances where you have chosen to be a slave to something rather than to battle, and that is what the Israelites did. Do not question God’s love his faithfulness or his loyalty towards you, because every decision He makes He does so based on what you can handle through Him at any given point. God has your best interest at heart. Every decision He makes is for your good, therefore when the going gets tough, do not throw in the towel, rather stand firm and know that Jesus is Lord and He is on your side.
