Do Not Be Idle

April 24

2 Thessalonians 3:11 AMP

“Indeed, we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined and inappropriate life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies [meddling in other people’s business].”

How productive and useful are you in your business? Are you productively busy or do you only have a false appearance of business? One of the most stagnating things we can do to ourselves as Christians are to live a completely idle life. Idleness causes us to be stagnant and indescribably complacent in our walks. This is one of the worst places we can ever find ourselves, yet it is such a common place for most people.

We always have a duty to ourselves to strive for growth irrespective of life circumstances. We also have an obligation to strive in our knowledge of the Lord and to go much deeper and on a more intimate level. Idleness is not an option for us. Each of us has a gift, a talent that God has given to us, so let us get out of idleness and utilize what we have for the betterment of others, the church of God, and even ourselves. In being productive we must also ensure that there is a purpose in all we do, we cannot be busybodies who find themselves everywhere doing everything but aren’t good for anything.

Do not lose yourself simply because you want to be seen and recognized. Find something you love and focus on that particular thing. Allow yourself the opportunity to grow in productivity. Let go of idleness and lead an appropriate life, and in doing so do it with purpose!
