Joel 2:13

“Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.”

‘God is not a mean or a heartless Father’s is a statement we often make, but how many of us really believe this? In many instances, God is the last person we turn to in life. He is the “since I’ve done everything I can, I might as well seek God,” or in order words “Since I’ve done everything, else I might as well pray.” We come to Him after we have gone through everyone in our book. When we wrong Him, we go to Him last. When we need Him, we go to Him last. Sadly He has become the last resort for some of us.

However the Lord Loves us and He wants us to remain in His dwelling.  No matter how far off the path we go, he always wants us to return to Him.  Our Father is still patiently waiting at the end of the road, and even along the way, for us to return to Him. He wants our hearts, not the material things that are temporary. God desires the very core of our hearts. One way or another we all have created a distance between ourselves and God. However, what makes the difference is the decision to give your heart over to Him. God is gracious, and for this reason, He is ready to wash you clean of all your filth and dress you up for Himself. The Lord is not worried about how far you have gone.  He is concerned about having your heart. Do not forsake yourself. Give yourself the opportunity to return to the Lord. He is a loving Father: Compassionate and caring.
