1 Corinthians 16:18
“They have been a wonderful encouragement to me, as they have been to you. You must show your appreciation to all who serve so well.”
Some people have the gift of serving. They serve, without ever requiring anything in return, and we should be thankful and show appreciation towards them. It is crucial that we identify such people in our lives and circle who fall into this category and reign blessings and praises over them. Often those in these roles do not receive the credit they deserve. For example, in customer service roles, the clients who come into the business establishments or call to make complaints are angry and irritated. These customers often take their anger out on the employees and treat them rudely. This behavior is often very discouraging especially to those on the receiving end
Do not be the one who brings discouragement to others. As sad as it is, I have come to find that a number of the people who are rude and mean, either face to face or through phone services are Christians. A Christian will call the customer service line and nothing they say or show portray they are Christians, and that is not ok. Just because no one sees you, does not mean you lay the character of Christ aside and do what you please. Regardless of the types of interactions we have in our daily lives, it is our responsibility to remain like Christ and show appreciation and honor where it is due. If someone does something for you, thank them.
Be intentional in being thankful. Serving goes as far as customer service to the ushers at church. Let those around you who are deserving know that they mean something to you and that the things they do are not unnoticed. Make it your goal to thank someone today, and you will find, that in itself is a blessing.
