1 Corinthians 13:3 NIV “If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
Most often we are under the impression that we can cover ourselves with good deeds. We believe the lie that as long as we are good that we do not necessarily have to follow what God has laid down for us. But the truth of the matter remains that if we do all that we can and give away all that we have and do not do what God ultimately requires then we are nothing and have gained nothing
There are times when we can do everything right and still be wrong in our doings because our hearts are not in the right place. We can give all we have away, we can help everyone there is to help and practice selflessness and still be wrong because we lack love. It doesn’t matter what we do, neither does it matter the sacrifices we make, if love is out of the equation then we do it in vain. We must evaluate our hearts and make sure nothing we do is out of self-gain or self-honor. Check your motives always, because only you can truly check them. Ask yourself I’m I doing this out of the love of God or out of selfishness? If your answers lean towards self-motives ask the Lord to clean your heart and give you one like His.
The position of our hearts is very critical when it comes to our actions or decisions and our deeds as a whole. The state of our heart matters, therefore, we ought to check our heart and examine ourselves
Do not consider yourself great you because of your deeds when your hearts is 1,000,000 miles away from the Lord. CHeck your heart and ask the Lord to fill you with His love
