Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Sounds simple doesn’t it, yet we have made it the hardest thing for ourselves. Just think about how well life goes when you trust God and put everything into His hands. Now think about how chaotic life turns out when you take it into your own hands, and ponder on the outcome of the two. Trusting God is not for His benefit but rather ours because trusting Him doesn’t change who He is, but it makes our life’s so much easier.

Our understanding can only take us so far. Our strength can only bring us so far before it begins to fail us, but God alone can take us through. Sometimes we make the concept of trusting God so difficult and unattainable but it really is as simple as just trusting Him. Think about how easy it is for you to trust human beings who are bound to fail you in one way or the other simply because they are humans, and now think of how difficult it is for you to put your trust in the one who is incapable of being unfaithful.

If we stopped trying to be the authors of our own lives and allow the one who created us to take the lead we will be better off. If we submit to Him in all our ways and allow Him to be God in our lives we will be able to avoid many unnecessary hurdles in life. It’s about high time we trusted God with all that we are. Imagine how different your life will be if you trusted God half as much as you trusted family or friends. Trust God and lean not on your own understanding. Trust Him and commit all your ways unto Him. Trust the Lord and submit to His authority in your life and He shall surely straighten your path.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.[a]
