Romans 6:10-13
“For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.”
Once you died to sin you are no longer obligated to it. You no longer have any ties or bond to it, meaning you do not have to obey any cravings or enticement of sin. You no longer have to give in to it because you now have a new master you answer to. A master who is merciful, gracious, and loving. One who will lead you in all truths. Do not present your body to sin for the fulfillment of its pleasure any longer because you now have life in and through Christ. Shine brightly in righteousness for you are no longer a slave to darkness, but rather a son and a daughter of Light.
Let righteousness be found in everything you do. Let the very cloth you wear be the garment righteousness. You are now God’s instruments, set aside for His good works. Imitate Him, and present yourself as Christ presents Himself. Do not let sin overcome you. Do not allow it to dictate your life. It is impossible to live in something you have died to. Remain dead to sin and live freely and gracefully in Christ. Let no unrighteousness or darkness come near you. Clothe yourself in light and shine brightly in Christ.
