2 Corinthians 9:8
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

In most of our lives, our giving is very limited. Most of us are so stiff with our giving to the point where it’s painful for us to give. Still, some of us even when we have an overflow will choose to save the overflow before ever thinking to provide for others. Giving is so difficult for most of us, and that’s not ok. Daily, we are so calculated to the point where we cannot give even a dollar to that individual on the side of the street who hasn’t eaten for days. In most cases, if you get a picture of what’s going on in your head, you will see that most people are calculating their rent, electric bill, grocery budget and thinking of how that single dollar will be needed for overflow and for that reason they will watch someone starve.

The reason why most of us struggle so much with giving is that we tend to do it with our strength. Most of us find it very hard coming to terms with the truth that giving also requires grace. It’s not just our strength but rather the grace of God that enables us to give and do so with an open heart. Be careful not to become stiff handed. Remember that the Lord who provides for the birds of the air can do more than enough for you. He will provide for your needs. Therefore practice giving and do so with a clear heart. Be a cheerful giver.
