1 Corinthians 1:12
“What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas ”; still another, “I follow Christ.”
Often times some of us Christians act as though we serve Jesus and 5 other pastors. There are many instances where I have encountered believers arguing about one minister or other, who they like and who they are loyal to. It baffles me every time because some people have arguments about who is good and who isn’t as well as who they follow in a manner that seems like they are following a man. Now, although there is nothing wrong with having pastors who preach the unadulterated truth of God that you listen to, there is everything wrong with putting your whole heart and trust in that person at the expense of Christ.
Christ is our all in all. There’s not a single person who can compete with Him. He alone is the one we ought to follow and there should never be an instance where Christ has to compete with anyone else in your life. It might be through your pastor that you came to know Christ, which is a good thing however you must understand that your pastor cannot take the place of God in your life. You can have people you admire and listen to. You will even have mentors in the Lord, however, you are simply a follower of Christ only. You are free to have genuine men and women of God in your life that you look up to but be careful not to replace God with them.
