Most of us are so concerned with the clothes we wear, the food we eat, the shoe we wear and even lotion and toothpaste we use. We have become so focused on what we look like on the outside that we have forgotten that the things that come out of us are a greater reflection of us than any outward adornment. For most of us we look so beautiful and presentable outwards to the human eye but inwardly our beauty has completely faded away.
Take some time for next couple of minutes to calculate and compare the time you spend looking good to the time you spend cultivating what’s on the inside. Judge for yourself and see where your focus really lies. Think about it this way your lipstick looks beautiful, it brings out the shapes of your lips and really adds color to your face yet the words come out of that mouth is enough to kill a soul. What sense is it then for all the outward adornment of the lips when the inward content is corrupt?
Let us spend more time on what is important which is our heart. Let us focus on working on our kindness towards others, our patience and long-suffering in our relationships. Let us work on our compassion and love towards others. Essentially neither our body shape or how fit we are nor the color of our eyeshadow will determine anything. We can have all the things in this world from clothes to shoes to body shape and fame and still be hideous on the inside. Let us then work on the things that reflect our hearts, not the things that reflect our bodies.
1 Peter 3:4
“You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.”
