Romans 12:1“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
The word of God is very particular, and we must learn to take every word as it is. When God speaks, no one can undo what He has said neither can anyone contradict His word. We often say that His word is Ye and Amen, and that is what it truly is. The word of God urges us to “present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God.” Now in this short sentence, God gives us three requirements, which is 1) presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice, 2) we are offering ourselves in a Holy manner, to a Holy God, and 3) presenting ourselves in a way that is acceptable to the Lord. Nowhere in this scripture are these things listed as options. Meaning it cannot be a living sacrifice and adequate but not Holy, neither can it be acceptable and Holy but not a living sacrifice. It has to meet these three standards at every given instance.
We cannot take God’s word out of context. Secondly, we cannot select what fits us and leave the rest to the air. His word is living, breathing, and active, and we must live as written. We cannot add to it neither can we take away from it. As a Christian, learn to take God and His word seriously. Do not get lost amid the lies of this world. Lastly, as you offer yourself to the Lord, remember to offer yourselves as a living sacrifice that is living and acceptable to the Lord. Take His word as is, and live faithfully by it.
