Jonah 1:3

“But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.”

If we spent as much time confronting difficult tasks, as we spend time trying to evade them, we would all have much accomplished. If we obey and work as much as we run away from the instructions of the Lord, we would all be in a better place in life. However, what most of us instead do is run from the commands and directions of God. The sad thing is running never takes us anywhere. Instead, it hurts us in every way.

Interestingly, most of us have been running for long, but if we observe our surroundings, we will still that we are in the same place we started. Our problems and circumstances do not disappear because we run away from them. Instead, they remain put until we tackle them.  For this reason, it behooves each one of us to stay still and obey the Lord. Remain always working out all the things that need attention in your life.

If you examine your life, the chances are that you have been running away from the Lord, or yourself, or your responsibilities, but the point is there is a high chance that you’re running away from something in your life. I want to encourage you to stand up and stand firm and face whatever lies ahead of you. Furthermore, concerning your walk, this journey of life, and your relationship with the Lord, there is nothing that the Lord will not do for you in accordance with His will. He is always ready to save you even if it is in the most unconventional way.  Do not sell yourself short. Do not run away from the Lord. Remain under His feet and go wherever He directs you. Learn to obey Him, that you may not find yourself wanting.

Ask yourself what you have been running from and tackle it head on with faith in the Lord and His abounding grace. Yes, fear can and will seep in from time to time, but do not give way to its destruction. Do not run from God. Follow Him, and He will lead you.
