Hosea 7:14

“They do not cry out to me with sincere hearts. Instead, they sit on their couches and wail. They cut themselves, begging foreign gods for grain and new wine, and they turn away from me.”

Have you ever found yourself looking in all the wrong places for the things kept in the hands of the Savior? Have you ever found yourself building idols in your heart and seating them above all, allowing life to be controlled by these things?

Have you ever found yourself at the mercy of someone or something that ought to have no control over you? This is what happens when we create idols for ourselves. We begin to turn to them and not on to God. It’s so saddening to realize how we react in situations. Most times when we’re going through something we rather grieve and wail about it. We rather go to those who will throw us a pity party rather than those who will redirect us back to God.

We often find ourselves sinking deeper because we go to everyone but God. We start seeking answers from the world in hopes that the world can save us. The world can never save us, neither can a pity party in closets. What can save us is God. It is He we ought to approach with sincere and humble hearts. It is He we must pour our hearts to. Do not resort to wailing when trouble comes, do not turn to the world when disaster strikes, rather with genuine hearts turn to the Lord and He will hear you.
