Hebrews 3:7-8
“So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness,”
How many of us hear the voice of the Lord and pretend we didn’t hear it or conclude it is not the voice of God simply because we do not agree with or have the desire to do what the voice says unto us. We are quick to do the things that we can identify with or the things that we actually want for ourselves, but those things that are out of our scope or those things we do not understand or do not want to do, we ignore.
Our lack of relationship and intimacy with God is one of the things that prevents us from being able to hear and His voice and assess what He is saying unto us. This at times causes us to hear but ignore Him because we either don’t want to hear what He has to say, or we’re just not ready to do what He has asked us to do. He wants us to heed His voice.
God telling us not to harden our hearts when we hear Him is solely for our own good and not His. There are times where we think hardening our heart may get us what we want but in actuality, it draws us farther and farther away from God. For our own good, it is better for us to heed the voice of God without hardening our hearts when He speaks! Be vigilant in the distinguishing of voices. We have the choice of listening to Him and making things easy or ignoring and rebelling against Him and suffering all that is to come. Let us be wise and Heed the Voice of our God. Be submissive to His voice and do what He commands.
