1 Timothy 6:9
But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being wealthy. Wealth is never the issue, what the problem is however is the motive and the heart behind the wealth. Some people want to be rich just to rub it in people’s faces others want to be rich just so they can be greedy with their wealth and deal mercilessly with those who once withheld from them. Everyone wants more money and wealth in general, but the truth is not everyone is in a place (heart wise) to handle immense wealth.
Those who long to be rich stand the chance of falling into temptation if their heart is not in the right place. When ones heart isn’t right they will do anything to gain and maintain wealth no matter how wrong that particular thing may be. With wealth comes responsibility and if you are not in a stable place in your mind and in your walk with the Lord in which you understand certain concepts, wealth can be your downfall. Seek to be content in what you have. Secondly when desiring for wealth ask the Lord to teach you how to handle wealth. If you do not have a giving heart then wealth is nothing. Work hard in all your ways but do not let the longing of being rich be an idle that leads you, because that longing can make you vulnerable, which will cause you to do certain things that will lead you down the path of destruction and ruin.
