What Is Moving You?

February 7

Ecclesiastes 4:4 NLT Then I observed that most people are motivated to success because they envy their neighbors…..”

What drives you and your purpose in being successful?  Is it passion or is it envy. Do you want something so badly because your neighbor has it and as a result resent them for what they have?  one of the saddest things to find is that the sweat and blood someone puts in one venture or the other is because they envy the man or woman working alongside. When you have the wrong motives for success it can actually keep you from truly enjoying that success.  And if envy is your drive for success you will never become successful in your own eyes, because you will always be chasing someone else.

In this life, there will always be someone more successful to come along, let not your focus be on them but rather on what you are doing. Be sure to look deep within yourself and evaluate where the drive for your success is stemming from because if it is out of envy and strife you will be miserable but if it is out of the pureness of your heart you will surely enjoy your success. We each must search our hearts because at times we may easily overlook the fact that we are envious towards others.

Do not allow envy to be your driving force. Keep in mind that the person you envy more than likely does not know about it, therefore all your efforts, in turn, becomes in vain because their focus and their hearts are rooted in truly flourishing and not on pleasing you. Secondly, we must be careful not to allow envy to lead us because if it does it can lead us into doing despicable and outright evil things.

Ecclesiastes 4:4 NLT Then I observed that most people are motivated to success because they envy their neighbors.  But this, too, is meaningless – like chasing the wind.”
