Luke 11:19

“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.”

One downfall most of us have as Christians are our inability to persist. Often times we push hard for what we want for about one or two weeks, then we give up. We give up because of our lack of faith and our inability to see beyond what is in front of us. The key we see here is to KEEP ON. This means that we do not have any room to give up. We have no space to in this life to be wishy-washy.

Take a look at some characters in the Bible who persisted until they received what they wanted. The Syro-Phoenician woman, for example, she did not give up, neither did she listen to the negative plea of everyone around her. She followed Jesus and pleaded with Him until she got what she needed. She could have stopped her pursuit after the long silence, or after the disciples’ disapproval of her. Yet still, she could very well have ended her pursuit after Jesus responded to her. However this woman had a focus, she had a plea, an agenda if you will and there was nothing that was going to keep her away from achieving what was at hand.

The question here is how hard do we push? Do we give at the first sight of disappointment? We can not give up easily when it comes to our walk. Persistence and Faith is a trait that ought to be embedded in our very DNA. We can not be true Sons if we don’t have the ability to have faith and persist. Persist in seeking after Him. As you do so, you must also get into the habit of listening to Him. While you seek and persist, give yourself a chance to hear His voice in the process.
