Romans 8:1,13
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”
We often focus only on the first half of the scripture. That there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. This is true but it is only part of the truth. The second part of the scripture says “who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” This means it is only those who are in Christ and walk according to the Spirit have a no condemnation.
If you are in Christ and you deliberately live by the flesh and continue in sin, you stand condemned. This is why someone can be saved but because they lack understanding of the Word they walk in the flesh. So they are saved but they live their life like unbelievers.
Those who are truly in Christ live by the Spirit which is the very Word of God because the Word is Spirit, and one who lives according to the Word cannot be condemned.
Furthermore it is crucial to live by the Spirit because the flesh brings about death. When you live by the flesh you live in sin and the outcome of sin is death, so living by your fleshly desires will only end your life eternally. Living by the Spirit however brings life because the entrance of God word gives light which brings forth life. If you want to live you must put to death the deeds of this body. You must kill every desire of sin in the body. Yes it is true that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ, but it doesn’t count for those who pretend to be in Christ because those who are truly in Christ live by the Spirit and it is they that receive no condemnation.
Check your life, examine if you’re living by the Spirit(word of God) or if you’re killing your spirit by living in the flesh.
