1 Thessalonians 5:4-6

“But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.”

As a child of light can you truly confess that you are indeed living in the light. Can you confidently say that you are not in darkness, and that the day of the Lord will not surprise you.

It’s very easy to convince yourself that you are ok and are on the path of the Lord when in actuality you are not. There are times where you may deceive yourself, flirting with the things of God and with the things of the world all at the same time. At the very core you have to either be hot or cold. Being Lukewarm will get you no where. As a believer and a child of light, ask yourself, if the time was now will it catch you off guard like a thief in the night or will you spot it even before it settled. Do not claim your position in the Lord only by mouth, your position must be claimed by your action as well. Be awake and sober so that you do not find yourself wanting. Do not be like those who are asleep because it is when you sleep that the thief is able to steal and destroy. Be vigilant and be awake. If you are a child of light then live by that light.
