Hebrews5:13-14
“Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”
At different points in our natural lives there are different states of growth that happens. From new born, to infant, toddler, preschool age, school age….. middle childhood, adolescence, adulthood etc. From different developments of one crawling, standing, walking, running and much more, there is something that happens. Even as mere humans there are different changes that happen in these phases. This is what makes us who we are.
We do not live on breast milk forever. At some point we ceased from drinking breast milk and pushed into eating real food. This is because as we grow, milk is no longer enough to sustain us. In this same way we ought to grow as believers. We ought to move from one phase to another. We cannot be babies forever neither can we be adolescents forever. Likewise we must grow spiritually. We cannot remain at the stage of milk consumption. We must work out our salvation and with fear and trembling. We must grow to the point we are able to not only to eat meat but to also chew bones whenever necessary. Recognize that as you are required to grow in the natural, you are also required to grow in the spirit. Feed your spirit man. Do not be built in the physical, while weak and lump in the spirit. Train yourself and set yourself up for growth in the Spirit through the consumption of the word on a daily basis.
