Proverbs 3:1
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,”
It is impossible to forget something that you never knew to begin with. This scripture states that “my son do not forget my teachings, meaning do not forget what you once knew, in other words we must first know the teachings of God. The word of God is meant to direct our paths and lead us into truth. The word is suppose to guide us and enable us to live a life that is worthy of the calling that we have received as sons and daughters. Therefore we must put ourselves in a position of learning where we are able to learn the word inside and out.
We must familiarize ourselves with the word. Know it like the palm of your hand, so that you will be able to stand for what is true and right in the sight of the Lord. It is the word of God that gives us life and help us in all our way. And for this reason as Christians we must be very knowledgeable in the word. In knowing the word we must ensure that we do not forget those teachings. We have a responsibility of keeping the word in our hearts because it is only when we keep it in our hearts that it remains hidden and remembered. Do all you can to keep God’s teaching in your your heart. Do not forget it because if you do you’ll find yourself wanting.
