Fix It First

Matthew 5:23-24

“So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.

As humans, we are made in the image of God, and as a direct result, we are built for relationships. Whenever there is even an appearance of discord among friends, family, co-workers, classmates, and neighbors it directly affects our relationship with God. How can we possibly worship God genuinely and wholeheartedly when we refuse to revive healthy loving relationships with others? We cannot truly love and worship God when we have so much hatred and animosity for our neighbor and those we claim to love.

Your heart and mine cannot truly be for God when it’s filled with hatred and malice. So before we go to God let us check the deepest parts of our hearts and make sure it is clean to the standard of God and filled with love. Let us make sure we are cleaning up every mess we have made. Do what you can to restore the relationships you have been given. Fix what is at home clean your conscience that way you can you can approach God with a heart He can fill, for if your heart is full of everything else He has no room to fill you up.
