John 13:14
“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.”
Would you do for others what the Lord graciously does for you? Daily, the Lord does so many things for us; things that we cannot even repay. However, when we are asked to be of help to our brothers and sisters in the faith, we begin to ask for a reward in return. We look for the things we will gain before we even venture to offer help. Beyond that, there is some help that we feel is far beneath us. As Christians, we ought to be as willing to serve like Christ.
Though Christ is Lord, He served in the lowest form of service by washing the feet of His disciples. If we were in Christ’s position, we would complain. We would ask God how He could ask us to wash someone’s feet. Christ in His great power and might humbled Himself to wash the feet of His people yet as human as we are we will fight that. We ought to be willing. Willing to serve like Christ did. Ready to put ourselves aside and work for the Kingdom. We are each other’s keepers. Do not feel as though you are too good to help others. Do not feel like helping others is beneath you. We all have the obligation of being like Christ and that means we serve as He did. Even if it means washing someone’s feet. Wash it graciously and as lovingly as Christ would.
Devote yourself to the work of the Lord and purpose within yourself to do His work and His will. Do not ever hesitate to offer help to anyone who may need it.
