2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
The word of God is living and very much accurate. As the word of God says if a man be in Christ then he is a new creation. As new creations we no longer have the right to remain with the old self. As new men we now have the responsibility to intentionally and deliberately change the things we once used to do. Yes the old man is gone, but you do not wake up one morning no longer wanting to do what you have been doing for the last 10 years. With the enablement of the Holy Spirit you are given the grace to turn down and turn away from the sin that once plagued you. With that being said, you ought to know that sin does not disappear because you’re a new creation. On the contrary it knocks even louder. However with the grace of the Lord and the strength of the Spirit you have the power to say no to sin.
You now have the ability to turn a blind eye to lust, anger, envy, jealousy, and everything else. The old man is gone and indeed the new one is here, but living by the spirit will require discipline and grace. Do not make the mistake of putting yourself in difficult predicaments because you’re now in Christ and for that you expect you can walk into a room full of sin and be able to withstand. Be wise and sensitive. You are a new creation so begin to act as such and begin to walk in the path of Christ.
