James 3:13-14
If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying.
It is very easy to to take on the title of a Christian while you’re not living as one. Most of us claim to know the ways of God yet we do not do anything that shows that. It’s very important that we examine ourselves to see if we’re living in an honorable way. The word said if we understand the ways of God then we should prove it by our lives. So the question becomes what life are you living. What does your life say about your understanding of God. If you do not understand God or His ways you will not be able to life a life worthy of your calling.
If you understand the ways of God every aspect of your life must be reflective of that. Your character, your love, your attitude etc. must all reflect Him and your understanding of Him. This means you must exercise wisdom in all areas of your life. We must also pinpoint the ungodly things in our life and work on them. Do not deceive in yourself into thinking that you are perfect. Search your heart and find the thorn that you have in your life, and rather than hiding it expose it and work on it.
