1 Thessalonians 4:3-4
God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor—
God’s will for us is to imitate Him in all our ways. He wants us to imitate Him in our love for others, our care for others, our speech towards others, and so forth. One that stands out most is the desire for us to be Holy because He is Holy. Often times we attempt to be Holy in all the ways we know how. We will be kind, show patience, show love, go the whole nine yards but fail to imitate in Holiness. Our Holiness should be of the Lord and unto the Lord. Not the kind that we manufacture ourselves. The kind of holiness where we try to justify why our clothing is so sight that we cannot walk. Or the Kind of Holiness where we test the waters to see how far is too far. That is not what we want to be known for.
There is only one standard of Holiness and that is our Lord Jesus Christ. No one and no thing can compare with Him. If your life isn’t an imitation of the Lord you are doing something wrong. The only right thing is Christ. Anything apart from Him is not Holy. Choose what is Holy in every situation. Choose what looks like Christ. Never compromise yourself for this world. The standard is Christ and He alone is worthy of being emulated. Choose to be Holy because it is a choice you have to make. It is the choice that will keep you from hurting others and yourself. Remain Holy that you may abstain from sin and all that which comes along with it.
May the Holy Spirit help you even as you make the decision to live Holy and intentionally practice Holiness in all your ways!!!
