Proverbs 26:11
As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness.
We can all agree that no one in their right sense will vomit and return to consume that vomit. Chances are your vomit is repulsive, not necessarily something you desire to consume.
As believers there are certain behaviors and characters that we can agree with ourselves as behaviors that are completely flawed. When we come to know God, these flawed behaviors are elements that the Holy Spirt will expose to us as things that need to be changed. As children of God it is our duty after we recognize these things to work on them and turn from our flawed ways. Unfortunately this isn’t always the case. There are times where the Holy Spirit will open our eyes to see that we have anger issues and He goes as far as giving us a way out, however in some cases we consistently return to our old ways. As believers we ought to put ourselves in a place where we are constantly renewing our minds, allowing our lives to be transformed by the word of God.
Do not return to your vomit, or your old way of life. Strive for growth and renewal in every area of your life. Leave the things you’ve been delivered from where they are and continue to better yourself.
