1 Thessalonians 5:19
Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.
As believers once we receive salvation the Holy Spirit comes to love within our hearts. As the Bible says so clearly, Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit meaning He lives within us. Although He lives within us He does not force us or take our choice away from us. We still hold the power to the choices we make, however, He is always there directing us and leading us in the path that has been laid aside for us.
He is not a non-existent being. He is the Spirit of God sent to us to lead us into all truth. Although the Holy Spirit is in us we can in some ways stifle Him and grieve Him. We can cause this simply by our actions our thoughts, our speech and many other things. We can stifle the Spirit of God by not doing what He prompts us to do. When we refuse to carry out His will and his instructions we are stifling Him. We must learn to allow the Spirt of God in us the freedom to do as He please. We must learn His voice and by so doing heed to His instructions. As a child of God the Spirit lives within you, however you must do your part in the building of relationship. Get to know Him. Learn of Him and go deeper in Him. Do not stifle Him in your life rather embrace Him and allow Him to move in your life the way He please.
