2 Timothy 2:25Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth.
It is very easy to think of ourselves as holier than thou in some cases. Sometimes we forget that we weren’t always in the place we find ourselves now. We tend to forget that before the Lord graciously and mercifully called us, we were once in the world. We were once talking anyhow and behaving anyhow. We forget that we also had people who showed love and grace towards us when we were lost. We don’t look at the fact that at some point someone took their time to instruct and correct us when we were making mistakes and even now when we still make mistakes. It is very easy to forget.
We have to desire to be like Christ and be like those who emulated the character of Christ to others. As you had someone teach you and encourage you and correct you, you do the same for others. Do not be quick to attack others because they are opposing the truth. It is your love and kindness that will draw them in. Being aggressive and mean when you encounter people who oppose the truth does more harm than it does good. Be kind and show the love of God to those who are lost Be kind to those who are being introduced to the good news. Be gentle in the way you correct those who oppose, let the character of Christ emanate from your reaction and the way you handle all things.
