Romans 13:14
“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”
The flesh manages to take over when you feed it more than you feed your spirit man. The more you feed the flesh the more you weaken the spirit and the more you feed the spirit the more you weaken the flesh. However as humans we find many ways to starve the spirit-man while elevating the flesh in more ways than necessary. The reason why the flesh is able to win over us often times is because we have handed our power and our authority over to it. We have become people who answer to every call if the flesh. If the flesh presents us with the idea of flirting with sin and indulging in the idols we have built in our lives we just oblige without putting up a fight.
We have to put on Christ on a daily basis in order not to give in to sin. If we fail to be engulfed in the word of God as well as be transformed daily by the word our flesh will constantly win over us. We must have Christ on as though He is the very garment we wear so as to not make any provisions for the flesh. Let everything you do revolve around Christ. Let every decision you make be on the basis of His word, for when you do this you give no room for your fleshly desires. Be immersed in Christ and His word that you may not give in to the lust of the flesh. The flesh will always yearn to win over you, but always remember that the power is in your hand and you have the right to feed your spirit alone and not the flesh.
