Philippians 1:10
“so that you may learn to recognize and treasure what is excellent [identifying the best, and distinguishing moral differences], and that you may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ [actually living lives that lead others away from sin];”
If you were asked this simple question: are you leading a life that points others away from sin, what would your honest answer be? More often than it is acceptable, we as Christians forget who we belong to and for whom we are living this life. We become insensitive to the word of God and to the Kingdom as a whole and by so doing we forget that our life isn’t our own. It is imperative that we always remember that it is the word of God that keeps us, and it is that same word that teaches us what is right from why is wrong while enabling us to make right decisions. It is the word of God that will keep us sane and pure because it can wash us. Without the word, we cannot lead blameless lives, and additionally, the absence of the Word makes it difficult for us to draw souls into the Kingdom.
We can live lives that turn people away from sin, but we can only do so through Christ and the enablement of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, we cannot live a life worthy of our calling as light to the world. As Christians we will definitely be in the spotlight whether we like it or not. And because we will always be in the spotlight, it is our responsibility to make sure we are representing the name of the Lord correctly as well as allowing our lives to speak to people and draw them nigh unto Him. Again you must first be able to live a worthy life before you can bring others near. So let the Lord be your help and your guide. Let Him direct your path and lead you in righteousness so that you, too, can lead others.
