Colossians 3:13
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
It’s very easy to hold grudges against each other and point fingers at who is wrong and who is not. We have this sense of entitlement where we feel that if we wrong someone and we ask for forgiveness we ought to be forgiven, but if the tables are turned and someone offends us and seeks forgiveness it is our our disposal to either give it or not. How can we in our abundance of sin and faults boldly ask for forgiveness from the Lord but refuse to give it to those who do wrong against us. Christ forgives without grudge and as His imitators we ought to imitate that. We must do as the Lord forgives.
If you have any grievances towards anyone it is in your best interest to forgive that person. Reason being when you harbor unforgiveness in your heart you begin to slowly kill yourself within. You begin to deteriorate without even knowing. Unforgiveness eats at you. Forgive as the Lord forgives you. Think of all the things you have done that God has forgiven you for. All the unpleasant things that cannot be named that He let go of. Now ask yourself if He can forgive you of all these why can’t you forgive that person who hurt you? Forgiveness is medicine to your heart. Forgive and give your heart that freedom and breath of fresh air that it desires.
