Galatians 5:16-18
“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”
Walking by the Spirit is a constant thing in life, and it’s something we must do at all times. There’s no such thing as walking in the Spirit today and the flesh tomorrow and so forth. It like being black or white, you cannot decide to be black today and white tomorrow. You are one thing and that one thing you should remain. We have to be disciplined in our ways. Just as light and darkness cannot co-exist, it’s in that same way you can’t live in darkness and live in light at the same time. Similarly you cannot walk by the Spirit and the flesh simultaneously. It is about time we stopped making excuses for the decision we make and the actions we take.
The power to overcome the flesh and live in and by the Spirit has been given to us but we fail to use it. We must learn the function of the weapon we have been given( the Word) and know how to fight with it. We have all that we need at our disposal, so it’s about time we stop giving in to sin and rather waging war at whatever sin comes our way.
Do you remember that moment you were about to sin but your spirit was drawing you away? Well that was the Holy Spirit tugging on your heart and in that moment you had the power to refrain. God has given us the power and we ought to study it and use it. We should be so prepared and skilled in our Word that the enemy has to think twice before presenting us with sin. We have been given the power to overcome our flesh and it’s about time we started utilizing and walking in that power. Living a Holy life is possible. Living a Holy life is attainable and we ought to do everything to attain it.
