Hebrews 12:8-9 NIV “If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live.”
As a caring father, God has to discipline us. He cannot leave us to live our lives anyhow because we will destroy ourselves. He cannot be still and quite while we walk ourselves to damnation. Because He is a good and a loving father He disciplines us. He orders our steps and teach us what is right. Because He is a good Father He grants us the grace to go through life. He takes us throw seasons where He prunes us.
For this reason we ought to take joy in the discipline of God. Through discipline He shows us that we are legitimate sons and daughters. No father will allow his son or daughter to rot, not even your father on earth, so how much more our Father in Heaven. How much more the one who has given you life. His discipline shows that you are truly His and that He truly loves you. His discipline lays the foundation of your life and sets your path straight. If He didn’t love you He will have no problem allowing you to walk straight into a sea of sin and rottenness but He loves you way too much to allow you to destroy yourself.
He loves you way too much to allow you to get in the way of Him perfecting you. So the next time you’re being disciplined by your Father in Heaven just know that He is disciplining you in deepest of love, so take your discipline with joy and gladness. Take pride in the discipline of the Most High and allow Him to perfect your life.
