Leviticus 19:16
“ ‘Do not go about spreading slander among your people. “ ‘Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the LORD.”
Be careful of slander. We usually say what we want, the way we want without even thinking. We think we have the right to speak our minds without careful consideration of the consequences of our words. Our words hold power and our tongue possesses life and death. We ought to refrain from gossip and slander. And even though we know we ought to cut ourselves from it completely we somehow always find a way to be a part of. In all seriousness, gossip is an act we all need to remove ourselves from because it is an act that is very subtle and at times can even appear innocent yet very dangerous in actuality.
Spreading of gossip can kill someone’s self-esteem, destroy someone’s confidence or even greatly endanger someone’s life. As a Christian, we are to give life not take it from people. We must stay away from gossip and wicked meddling. Rather than gossip, we must spend that time in building others. Do not spread slander among people, instead, spread the love of Christ and that will go a long way. Put an end to gossip and pour out the love of God!
Be unified in mind and in heart and allow the love of God to have its way in your heart. Let no false speech remain on your lips.
