It’s amazing how often we question God about our lives. It’s even more amazing and sad to see how knowledgeable we think we are about our lives than God is. Our inability to see in the future causes us to make decisions that can hurt us in the long run. Most often because of this inability to see past the present, we question God unnecessarily and at times we even accuse Him falsely about the things that happen in our life.
We need to realize that God is the potter and we are the clay. He is the author and finisher of our faith and He knows the course of our lives, inside out.
Ask yourself this question. How do I treat God when things in my life don’t go according to my plan? Do I revert to arguing with Him using logic, blame, coercion, self-pity or anger? We cannot use common human logic with God because He is far beyond logic. It is possible that you thought you would have landed that perfect career job at this phase in your life or better still you thought you would have had kids at your age, or that you would have attained certain accomplishment in your life. The truth of the matter is that your life is in the hands of the Lord and He determines your course.
What is important is that you follow His direction. God is not bound by our human biological clock so He doesn’t have to follow our timeline. Our Creator is all powerful and all knowing and as clay we ought to follow His footsteps. Its ok to ask God questions about your life that you do not understand. What we cannot do is question His works and His doings in our lives in a way that we accuse Him of what we feel should have been. God truly knows best, so trust Him and know that is truly God.
Isaiah 45:9
“What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’
