How many of us are masters in remembering God when the storm billows, and kings in forgetting Him when He silent that very storm? Often times when things aren’t going well we find ourselves running to God and pleading for interventions. Some of us will even fast and pray like we have never done so before. We will do whatever it takes to see the hands of God but when all is said and done we fail to seek His face. We fail to honor Him with praise, our time and our very being as we do when things aren’t going well. How can you forget to give thanks to the one who delivered you from a life-threatening situation? Or the one who cleared traffic on a busy highway so that you will miss your meeting with the director of your company about your promotion.
How do you manage to forget the one you were fervently praying to just a week ago, the moment you receive your breakthrough? The answer lies within our hearts and our motives. When we are in a space where we are only concerned with we can gain from God, our hearts shifts from ever wanting to seek His face to now only wanting to seek His hands. We must, however, realize that it is through seeking His face that we will see the power and work of His hands.
Do not be caught up in the wrong things, and do not take away the praise, honor, and thanksgiving that rightfully belongs to God. When God does something for you, remember to come back and offer a sacrifice of praise as you did when you were in need. Do not be the ungrateful one who forgets too soon.
Luke 17:15-19
“One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
