What Do you feed your eyes? Are you particular about the things you allow yourself to look into or do you allow any and everything to enter your very being through your eyes? People will often make the argument that what you watch or what you listen to has no hold on you but in actuality it does. To the physical aspect of life, there is always a spiritual side that is attached to it. The eyes are a gateway to the deepest parts of your being, therefore you have to be careful of the things you subject your eyes to.
You cannot spend hours watching sexual infused shows or movies and wonder why you are now beginning to lust after everyone you see. You cannot watch violent videos and wonder why every little thing causes you to want to retaliate in a violent way. What you take in is what you will exude, and that is just the way it is. You have to be careful of the spirits and things you allow to have access to you by way of your eyes. Turn away from anything worthless and impure. Close yourself up to everything that is contrary to God. Whether it be a movie, tv show, video game, or anything that you know has a negative impact. You must do away with everything that is impure. Open your eyes only to be things of God and to what He shows you. Allow God to turn your eyes away from everything vain, worldly and meaningless. Let go of every distraction and allow God to revive you in all your ways.
You are the keeper of your own eyes, therefore you must shield it and protect it from anything that has the potential of causing destruction.
Psalm 119:37
“Turn my eyes away from vanity [all those worldly, meaningless things that distract–let Your priorities be mine], And restore me [with renewed energy] in Your ways.”
